Northern Nutrients (Saskatoon, Canada) plans to build a new sulfur-enhanced urea fertilizer manufacturing plant outside of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in July 2021, which is expected to be completed in early 2022. The plant will utilize Shell Thiogro technology, a patented process that incorporates micronized elemental sulfur into urea to form a form of sulfur that can be used by plants throughout the growing season.

Northern Nutrients is owned by Ross Guenther and Emerge Ag Solutions' Matt and Rob Owens, all of whom are residents of Saskatchewan. The sulfur facility is another step in Northern Nutrients' long-term strategy to bring new sustainable fertilizer technology to farmers in Western Canada. For three years, Northern Nutrients has been importing the patented Shell Thiourea into North America, which is a unique applicable fertilizer product that has been widely distributed to retailers in Western Canada.

Ross Guenther, President and co-owner of Northern Nutrients, said: "The adoption of products by manufacturers and the anticipated increasing demand has convinced us that we are producing our own form of sulfur-enhanced urea in Canada."

Matt Owens of Emerge Ag Solutions and the co-owners of Northern Nutrients said: “We tried sulfur products for the first time three years ago. Shell micronized thiourea products. They like this product (11-0-0-75) because it is easily available to plants in the early and throughout the growing season, it mixes well in any dry mix, and Compared with other forms of sulfur, it has a lower salt index."

“Once we see the customer’s reaction, we want to invest in the company, so we are very optimistic about the significance of sulfur products and new phosphorus products to farmers. Rob Owens, President of Emerge Ag Solutions and co-owner of Northern Nutrients, said that lower salt The index is very important in our region, and I also like it to be less dusty and more dusty than ammonium sulfate. "We are very happy to bring these products to Western distributors and farmers. "

Curtis Bowditch of Tisdale, Saskatchewan has been using sulfur to enhance urea for three years. He said: "The seed safety of this product has changed the rules of the game on our farm, allowing us to obtain both phosphorus and sulfur in the seed line for the first time. Logically speaking, this saves a lot of time."

Northern Nutrients is a crop nutrition company that originated in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and has been involved in the manufacture and distribution of low-salt and sustainable fertilizers since 2016.
